This year, the rear wing team is manufacturing, assembling, and testing a previously-designed rear wing for the car. The rear wing uses carefully optimized airfoils to produce downforce from the air flowing over the car, which provides valuable extra traction in high speed corners. The design also allows the wing geometry to be adjusted for varying driving conditions. Made from carbon fiber, foam, and aluminum, the wing is designed to be as light as possible while still withstanding high aerodynamic forces. We use CNC manufacturing and composite wet layups to produce a strong, high quality final product.
