The central goal of the insulation team is to protect the driver from high-voltage tractive system hazards. This is achieved through the design, modeling, and manufacturing of a firewall and two motor controller enclosures. The insulation team builds skills at every step in the design process: from modeling parts in Creo to precisely manufacturing them on a milling machine, members must constantly innovate to answer questions and make informed decisions. Insulation prioritizes close collaboration and continuing communication with other sub-teams to ensure optimal interface between systems. Driver safety is our goal, and we do not take it lightly.
